The Corvallis Art Guild will general meeings will be held at 7:30 on the SECOND Monday of each month, beginning September 13 at the The First Congregational Church at 4515 SW West Hills in Corvallis.
Members are encouraged to bring their art to share and socialize at 7:00pm.
The main reason for the change of location is that the Corvallis library has increased their fees for use of the conference room from $45 an evening to $60 an evening. The fee for the First Congregational Church meeting room is $33 an evening. This is a 45% savings for us. The first Monday of the month was not available for us so we grabbed the second Monday of the month. The church has ample parking, too.
Meeting dates for the year include: September 13, October 11, November 8, December 13, January 10, February 14, March 14, April 11, May 9, June (end-of-the year social and election).

Our 7:30pm Tuesday, September 13 meeting speaker is to be Chris Neely who is the Arts in Education Coordinator for the Art Center.
Neely has a lot of enthusiasm for her work, and extensive experience on the East Coast in this field as well. A work sample: Chris arranges in-house education classes, plus the six week summer Globetrotters Arts & Culture Camps. Additionally, she arranges outreach at College Hill and the Oak Creek Youth Facility. Each year, more than 300 children are immersed in week-long summer camps and no-school day camps at The Arts Center. Globetrotter students are introduced to distinctly different cultures through art classes such as Native American drumming, Egyptian tomb pots, Indonesian shadow puppets, Irish folk tales, and East Indian cooking. This popular (and innovative) program allows children to experience the sights, sounds and smells of other cultures through their arts. She also co-ordinates the Arts Center’s wide variety of classes that take place in the fully equipped clay studio, multi-media/painting room, and dance studio. (Which have recently been re-modeled.) Choices for these classes: Early Arts Education to After-School options- exploring mediums such as clay arts, drawing, sculpture, fashion, and special cultural based interdisciplinary workshops. These classes are for children of ages 3-18.
As the new Vice President/program chair, I’m looking forward to an outreach to younger arts participants in our area. ~ Carol Selberg

The second annual Bounty of Benton County self-guided tour will occur Labor Day Weekend, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, September 4, 5, and 6.
There are three locations that are requesting CAG members to consider setting up sales displays and/or painting on scene: Lumos Winery, Cardwell Hill Winery, and Dancing Oaks Nursery.
You may set up for one, two, or three days (no fee). All three locations allow the artist to keep 100% of sales. If you wish to make a 10% donation of sales to Bounty of Benton County, it would be appreciated. If you are interested in participating, please contact the locations directly to make arrangements.
